Napolitan is a popular Japanese pasta dish which is ketchup-based, and onions, bacon, green peppers are used as common ingredients. It is a unique dish, because it is a Japanese-style arrangement of pasta, while pasta itself originally came from countries in Europe and the States.
Ingredients (2 servings):
200g spaghetti
1 onion
1 paprika
60g bacon
6 tablespoons ketchup
20g butter
2L water
2 tablespoons Worcester sauce
2 teaspoons sugar
Cooking oil as needed
2 teaspoons and more salt
Pepper as needed
Preparation:
Slice an onion, dice bacon and cut a paprika into long strips.
Steps:
1. Add water and 2 teaspoons of salt in a pot and heat it. When it comes to a boil, add the spaghetti (boiling time depends on the spaghetti used).
2. Pour cooking oil in a frying pan and stir fry bacon, onions and paprika on medium heat.
3. When those ingredients are cooked through, place them on the edge and add ketchup, sugar and Worcester sauce to the other side to boil down.
4. When spaghetti is boiled, drain it, put it in the pan and stir everything together.
5. Add butter and season with salt and pepper.
6. Ready to serve!
Note:
It is very important to boil down the ketchup. If this step is skipped, you will end up with making pasta with a strong acidity, so be careful.
